Diving
Saba is home to some of the best diving in the Carribean and is consistently
rated among the top three diving destinations in the region.
When we first came to Saba 8 years ago we said that one-day we would
be back. Well this happened in 2004. One afternoon we were hanging out
talking to Lynn at Sea Saba and we were saying how much we still loved
Saba. One thing led to another and Lynn mentioned that she knew of a
nice house that was looking for a new owner. Glenn of the tourist office
had the keys and we had a look at Iris House. We got home to England
and contacted the owner. After some e-mails back and forth and a meeting
with him in November we, along with Ikuyo’s mother, Eiko, decided
to buy the house. We have not regretted it since.
Well
enough of the background. How is the diving? Superb! Saba’s worlds
famous “Pinnacles” are underwater seamounts that start at
depths of around 110 ft. Due to the depths they are pristine with excellent
coral and abundant sea life. Although not guaranteed on every dive we
have regularly seen sharks, mantas, and huge groupers to name a few.
Saba’s shallower sites offer beautiful coral formations and ledges
to swim through with lots of lobster and small critters to look at.
I could go on and on but it is much better for you to visit Sea
Saba's website which has a wealth of information on the diving sites
and the most recent sightings of interesting underwater residents.
